Professor Abakpa Benjamin Ogbole
Professor Abakpa Benjamin Ogbole, the Pioneer Executive Secretary of National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC) was born on 3rd November, 1957 at Adum Olaiona, Orokam Local Government Area of Benue State. He attended Government Secondary School Katsina-Ala where he obtained the West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1975, before proceeding to the Advanced Teachers’ College, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Kano where he obtained a National Certificate in Education (NCE) (Mathematics/Geography) in 1979.
He thereafter proceeded to the famous Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria where he obtained a B.Ed (Mathematics) in 1984 and M.Ed (Mathematics) in 1994 from the same University. He further obtained his Doctorate degree in mathematics in 2011 at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi. He was further conferred professor of Mathematics Education in the same University in 2018.
Professor Abakpa’s work experience began from Wesley High School, Otukpo, Benue State as a class teacher in 1981. He was later appointed the Principal of Adum Olaiona Community School (1984-1985). He taught at Demonstration Secondary School of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1985 and later became a part time staff at Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo (1998-1999). He joined University of Agriculture as a lecturer in 1999 where he served until April 2021 when he was appointed the Executive Secretary, National Senior Secondary Education Commission.
